[REQUET] Ageha Lyrics Translation + Title Analysis

This was done as a request, by using JPopAsia for romaji and Super-Lover for the kana. I do not own the original lyrics or the song. And if any of you would like to know what a swallowtail butterfly looks like as well as its symbolism in Japanese culture, please click Read More >>  and scroll to the bottom of the page.

The loneliness you threw towards me solidify in the snow
The flowers still bloom awkwardly, and you leave
I'm sorry I [ignored?] your dreams that day
It seems as if I'm the only one left behind

Like how on that summer day, when we chased after swallowtail butterflies,
we can once again capture our dreams.
That's right, as long as there's you, my best friend.

You're surrounded by your friends
You, giving handshakes [to everyone]
I was the only one slightly separated
[at] the platform we saw you off at

Without knowing why,
I figured out the true melancholy of the song we sang together that time

So when we part for our our [different] journeys,
i'll whistle that song for you
instead of a "goodbye"

Through the moving train's window,
our eyes met
I wanted to cry,
because you smile[d] so kindly

Like how on that summer day, when we chased after swallowtail butterflies,
we can once again capture our dreams.
Yeah, the way you, my best friend, did.

That summer day, when we chased after swallowtail butterflies,
we made a promise, right? If, for example, we parted ways
we'd still be best friends.

Even on days I can't see you
let us stay as best friends

SINCERELY YOURS, WITH ALL MY HEART

The Swallowtail Butterfly (ageha chou)
Swallowtail butterflies belong to the family Papilionidae, which consists of over half a thousand different species.
Butterflies in general hold different meanings in different cultures. In Japan, they are said to symbolize "young men in love." Alternatively, the wings and its ability of flight may also suggest memories that are lost over time.  There are many other plausible interpretations, but these two examples in particular can give readers a deeper connection to the title of this song. The symbolism utilized further illustrates the feelings of the main character, combined with the pure guitar chords and heartfelt vocals.
